Description
Deflazacort Suspension is a type of medicine called a steroid. It’s mainly used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy in adults and children over 2 years old. Autoimmune diseases happen when the immune system, which normally fights off foreign invaders, starts attacking the body’s cells and organs by mistake. This can cause problems like Duchenne muscular dystrophy, psoriasis, and arthritis.
It works by calming down the immune system. It binds to immune cells and stops them from acting up and causing damage. This helps in treating inflammation and autoimmune diseases, which occur when the immune system produces chemicals called cytokines that lead to inflammation.
So, Deflazacort Suspension is helpful for conditions where the immune system attacks the body’s cells, especially in diseases like arthritis and psoriasis. It’s also used to make organ transplants possible and to treat muscle disorders like Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Medical Benefits
- It helps treat conditions involving inflammation like asthma, arthritis, and allergies. It’s also used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
- It works by increasing the levels of a hormone called glucocorticoid in the body. This hormone helps in reducing the production of substances that cause inflammation and in suppressing the immune system to prevent damage caused by autoimmune reactions. These reactions can occur in organ transplants, autoimmune diseases, or cancer.
- It is a type of steroid that acts on immune cells that are too active, slowing down their activity and reducing the harmful effects they can have on the body.
